...Only to go right back in!
There is a good reason for the infrequent blogging. I've been busy for a change. I can't remember when I was this busy. But things are settling down at work.
In the meantime, I'm sad to hear about all the destruction in New Orleans. I've spent many fond days in the city, and the bayou country. The destruction is simply unbelievable. I'm even more saddened at the chaos and the senseless eruption of anger at rescuers. Victims shooting their prospective rescuers! Who would have thought that possible. Not long ago when calamity struck Bombay, numerous stories of personal sacrifice and courage emerged, of people sharing what little they have with the stranger next to them and of people risking their lives to save others. Against that, to hear that the residents of a once graceful New Orleans are turning into animals is disappointing to say the least.
Equally disappointing is the slowness in responding to the crisis. Why couldn't the authorities send a squadron of helicopters and boats and planes to evacuate the residents? This is the richest country in the world for god's sake. If this is how the administration responds to emergencies, bin Laden and his cohorts must be watching with glee as they plan their next act of terror.
